That’s me, Janine.  I’m a lawyer by profession, and a handbag designer by serendipity.  What started as a daydream in the fall of 2010 has turned into a full-on stumble and learn-as-I-go obsession that has taken me on a creative journey around the world.
My bags are handmade in India from (also handmade) flat woven rugs that I design.  When home, I can usually be found sketching out ideas in the cafes of Little Havana, but I get my true inspiration when I’m thousands of miles away.
And the name?  Fernweh is German for wonderlust.  And Fringe can mean decorative or unconventional, but for me, my bags are a bit of both.
